Congratulations to our 2024 Match Play Champions and Finalists!
A Scratch Championship: Don Roberson defeated Gary Masocco
B Scratch Championship: Todd Storrey defeated Mike Szczerbiak
C Scratch Championship: Don Dorobiala defeated Joe Gawlak
George Lesso Championship: Joe Abram defeated Keith Dziak (Joe Abram won-back-to-back Lessos, a rare feat).
Masocco, Schein, Sr. and Escott Club Champions!
Gary Masocco defeated Mark Stanizeski and Don Roberson by 1 shot in A Class to win his 6th Club Championsip. Paul Schein, Sr. romped to a 6 shot victory over 2nd place Mike Szerzerbiak and the field in B Class, while Chris Escott won C Class by 2 strokes over Pete Gerlach

Masocco, Storrey, Gawel and Fanning Big Winners in the Hall of Fame Tournament
Beautiful, though windy weather greeted the players for the 2024 South Park GC Hall of Fame/July 4th Tourney on Saturday July 6 and birdies were aplenty in the Stableford format. Birdies were worth 3 points, pars 1 point, bogeys none and anything worse was -1.
In A Class, Gary Masocco parlayed a great 68 into a 1 point victory over Joe Abram, with Paul Schein, Jr. finishing third.
Todd Storrey shot a strong 74, which resulted in a 23 point 2 point victory over Ken Gawel, Mike Szczerbiak and Don Dorobiala in B Class.
Doug Gawel was the overall winner, taking C Class with a big 32 points. Mike Lupinetti finished second with 24 points and Randy Tesmer, Paul Burzynski and Brad Zattosky finished third at 23.
Finally, Mark Fanning took the 9 hole super senior division by 4.5 points over Hall of Fame member Steve Scanlon.Thanks to all who participated and all scores can be viewed HERE.
Poles Win the 2024 Polish Versus Irish Challenge Match
The Poles won the 2024 edition of the Ed Krypel Jim Schaefer Polish v Irish Challenge Match by a score of 717 to 737 and were led by the winning players in all 3 classes.
Gary Masocco fired 1 under par 69 in very windy conditions to win A Class with a score of 69-0-69. Mark Staniszewski finished 2nd with a 75-4-71 and Keith Dziak was third after shooting 76-4-72.
Todd Storrey was the low shooter of the day with an impressive 75-9-66 to win B Class. The 75 equaled Todd's lowest 18 hole score at South Park. Ken Gawel was second with a 83-11-72 and Matt Sullivan third 87-13-74.
Mike Marusewski defeated Doug Gawel on the second hole of a sudden death playoff to capture C Class after they both finished with net scores of 68. Tom Deering finished 3rd with a net score of 72.

Schein, Jr., Gawel and Gerlach Prevail in the 92nd Memorial Day Tournament
The 92nd Memorial Day Tournament held on Saturday May 25 started as a great day but the tournament was shortened to 9 holes due to strong thunderstorms that entered the area.
In A Class, Paul Schein, Jr. finished first after firing a great 2 under par 33 gross score, minus 1 handicap stroke for a net 32. Mark Poloncarz finished second after a strong 1 under par 34 gross score, minus 1 handicap stroke for a net 33.
Ken Gawel won B Class with an impressive gross 39, minus 5.5 handicap strokes for a net 33.5. Matt Sullivan was second with a 41-6.5-34.5.
New member Pete Gerlach was the winner of C Class after shooting a 40-7.5-32.5 which included a beautiful eagle 2 on the 9th hole, which was a big winner in the Skins Game. Tom Bigaj was 2nd with a 41-7-34.
Finally, new member Mark Fanning won the Super Seniors with a 47-16-31.
