Poloncarz Goes on Listening Tour
Feb 11, 2006 - Erie County's top fiscal watchdog is touring the county - listening to residents concerns. A small group of taxpayers turned out for Comptroller Mark Polocarz's first town hall meeting - held today in Orchard Park. He gave a presentation on the state of county finances -- and fielded questions from the audience. One woman asked about a proposal to use state grant money to create a gym for county workers at the rath building.
Taxpayer: "They have the Flickinger center, can't that money be put somewhere else maybe with Senior Services or child services..whatever. I mean this is ridiculous."
Mark Poloncarz: "My understanding is Senator Rath said yesterday that she will not allow the grant to be used for that purpose. And therefore I think that proposal is probably dead."
Poloncarz will be meeting with residents in cities and towns across the county. We'll let you know when and where he'll be next as soon as we find out the details.
