(Buffalo, NY, June 13, 2005) - - The endorsed Democratic candidate for Erie County Comptroller is promising aggressive oversight of the county budget.
Mark Poloncarz spoke Monday in front of the county's public safety campus, which he says is plagued with cost overruns and inefficiencies.
He's vowing to expose budget mistakes to public scrutiny.
Poloncarz said, "I will not report to the legislature and the County Executive by internal memorandum. But I will go directly to the taxpayers of Erie County. If the legislature and County Executive fail to act on my recommendations, I will aggressively report their inaction to the taxpayers."
Poloncarz faces a likely Democratic primary challenge from former Buffalo Comptroller Robert Whelan.
