Erie County Surplus, Labor Contrat Talks Expected

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - After the budget crisis of 2004, Erie County is likely to end 2007 with a surplus, according to estimates released Thursday by Comptroller Mark Poloncarz.

The surplus comes at a time when every county union contract has expired, and may end up being targeted during negotiations, Poloncarz says.

The "slight" surplus is the county's third one in as many years.
