Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - Erie County Comptroller Mark Poloncarz is out with a report on sales tax revenues and how they are distributed. He warns things must change or the county and its municipalities could be in trouble.
Poloncarz admits sales tax revenues are good this year, but too much is being shared with local cities, towns and villages. In fact, 46 percent is being shared right now, says Poloncarz. He worries those municipalities have come to depend on the revenues to balance their budgets.
Poloncarz wants the 1977 county sales tax sharing agreement reviewed and at the very least a cap on sharing.
