The first visible politician at Saturday’s United Steelworkers Local 135 rally on Niagara Falls Boulevard was County Comptroller Mark Poloncarz, dressed casually and shaking hands. Poloncarz said he supports the steelworkers and their efforts to “retake good-paying jobs with good benefits here in the United States.
“My father’s a retired steelworker and I have a friend who’s an employee,” he said.
The 39-year old Poloncarz was elected in 2005.
Michele Iannello, D-Kenmore, was also on hand to show her support.
