MARK POLONCARZ ENDORSED BY THE
ERIE COUNTY DEMOCRATIC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
May 17, 2005
BUFFALO, N.Y. Today Mark Poloncarz picked up a major victory in his bid to be the next Erie County Comptroller when the
Erie County Democratic Executive Committee gave their endorsement to his candidacy at their headquarters in Downtown
Buffalo.
I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Erie County Democratic Executive Committee, said Poloncarz. I believe
the members of the executive committee responded to my call for an independent comptroller and my vision for the future,
just like voters across Erie County are responding to my candidacy.
"Mark is part of the new generation of leadership in this county, said Len Lenihan, chairman of the Erie County Democratic
Committee. He has never served a day on a public payroll, instead spending his years in the private sector and
participating as an active community volunteer. As a skilled business and finance attorney, he has the professional
credentials to carry out the responsibilities of Comptroller. But most importantly, Mark will make the best comptroller
because he is the only candidate in this race without ties to current County Executive Joel Giambra.
Lenihan further stated, Nancy Naples was unable to independently stand up and speak the truth to Joel Giambra about the
real fiscal condition of Erie County. Mark Poloncarz will not have that problem because he has no business, political,
or social ties to Giambra that would prevent him from being independent.
Poloncarz is running for comptroller to give voters a real voice in the economic recovery of Erie County. As comptroller,
Poloncarz will use the tools and powers delegated to him to restore integrity and responsible leadership to county hall
and fiscal discipline to Erie County.
