CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. - Erie County Comptroller candidate Mark Poloncarz believes the County Legislature made the correct decision for Erie County by appointing James M. Hartman interim comptroller. Hartman, a republican who resides in Orchard Park, New York, has worked as a budget consultant for the county legislature in the past.

"This bi-partisan appointment demonstrates the legislature's willingness to put partisan politics behind them and make decisions to better Erie County," said Poloncarz. " I believe Jim Hartman will act independently; he has the appropriate demeanor to step into the comptroller's office and have a positive impact on day one."

Poloncarz would like to offer his support and assistance to the new interim comptroller in fixing Erie County's fiscal crisis. "This crisis isn't something he will face alone," said Poloncarz. "I am willing to sit down with Jim to discuss the current status of our budget deficit and offer my input into fixing this mess. I believe that if he instituted parts of my ten point Action Agenda now, Erie County would be in a better position by the time the elected comptroller is sworn in next January."
