MARK POLONCARZ ENDORSED BY THE
ERIE COUNTY INDEPENDENCE PARTY
May 20, 2005
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Mark Poloncarz strengthened his bid to be the next Erie County Comptroller when he received the endorsement
of the Executive Committee of the Independence Party of Erie County at a meeting held Thursday night. This comes only two
days after the Executive Committee of the Erie County Democratic Committee endorsed Poloncarz as well.
“Receiving the Independence Party’s endorsement is a great honor and I will be proud to carry their banner through the
general election in November," said Poloncarz. "I believe I was endorsed over the other announced candidates because I am
the only candidate without any ties to Joel Giambra – I can be a truly independent comptroller. This endorsement from the
Independence Party strongly reaffirms that position. I will be the independent advocate for the people of Erie County and
make sure their hard earned tax dollars are spent wisely.
“Mark is exactly what we look for in a candidate,” said Independence Party Chairman Anthony Orsini. “He is a leader in
the private sector and has a strong background in community service. I know he will represent the ideals and goals of the
Independence Party well, and that is why a majority of the Executive Committee voted to endorse him as our candidate for
Erie County Comptroller.”
Poloncarz is running for Erie County Comptroller to give voters a real voice in the economic recovery of Erie County.
As an independent comptroller, Poloncarz will use the tools and power delegated to him to restore integrity and responsible
leadership to county hall and fiscal discipline to Erie County.
